Use voice in busy places

Hold to talk and the phone noise filter stop nearby conversations interrupting your agent.

Updated 18 October 2026

If people are talking near you, your agent could hear them and stop or start mid-sentence. Two things help.

Hold to talk (busy place mode)

  1. Start a voice chat.
  2. Tap the hand icon next to the mute and attach buttons.
  3. Hold the Hold to talk button while you speak, and let go when you're done. Your agent replies when you let go.
  • Press and hold while your agent is talking to cut in.
  • Tap the hand icon again to go back to hands-free.
  • Your choice is remembered next time.

Phone noise filter

On iPhone and Android, voice chat uses a close-talk filter that focuses on the voice nearest the mic and tunes out people further away. It's on automatically. Laptops and desktops keep the room filter, which suits speakerphone use.

Tips

  • Hold the phone a little closer than usual, or use earphones with a mic.
  • If your agent still picks up other voices, switch to Hold to talk or type instead.
